Hi,

I own a 2004 R1200 GS that the brake front line didn´t have enough pressure and so the servo was always "ON" and making that noise once pressed the brake lever. I decided to remove the complete servo unit and make direct connections to the brake line in front and back. Now the brakes are working :thumb well without the servo but the problem is that the millage counter is not working. Anyone knows how to solve this issue??

Serip,

Serip,

Serip I'll move your post over to the 1200 section where I think you'll get a better response to your query.

Hope you get sorted soon and welcome to UKGSer :)

Do you mean the milage counter is not showing anything (ie the panel is dead) or is showing a steady reading without counting even if you are moving?

Is the speedometer working OK or is that stuck on zero when you are moving?

Did you disconnect any wires to the servo when you by-passed the hydraulic system?

Thanks,
The panel is working perfectly. Yes it´s showing a steady reading. The counter is showing everything, trip I, trip II, total millage done and how many millage can be done with that fuel. The counter is not moving, speedometer stuck at zero even when moving.

I´ve removed the servo so disconnected the plug that connects the unit.

The instrument cluster gets its wheel rotation information, communicated to it on the CAN-bus, from the BMS-K brake module. The servo part you removed. No wheel rotation rate information = no way to calculate the bikes forward motion rate. There is no known way to overcome this short of putting the BMS-K brake servo module back in.

What you could have done was plumb the brake lines around the servo, but left it in place for its other communication functions, but you didn’t do that.

I´ve fixed back the servo in place but still not reading the speed. I think there must be a problem with the speed sensor as the ABS alarm is also on.

If you remove the rear wheel speed sensor from the rear of the final drive assembly you may find it covered in fine particles of swarf. If so, wipe it clean and replace and it may restore your speedo.:nenau
