2006 spec bikes commenced production 1st September and are in the showrooms now..........

New colour is Graphite Grey(934)....no discontinued colours.

Spec unchanged as are the prices.

Do you know if this is for everywhere?

I'm inching my way up to ordering a R12GS and think I'd like the extra year for BMW to work the bugs out of it. I'm in The Netherlands though.

Where did you get the info if I may ask?

It's true

I just picked up my GS last week and was told that it's effectively a 2006 model. A couple of small differences, but nothing major. Dropped it off to be serviced this morning and saw a grey GS sitting in the showroom, looking very nice. Best colour of them all, IMHO. Wish I'd gone for that instead of Red, but apparently the dealer didn't know the new colour was coming. Disappointing.

That 1200 Adv. pic is a bad photoshop combi of a GS and HP2.

My information comes from the horses mouth.....BMW AG in Munchen......

Yes, this info applies to all models regardless of market......

Why not price up the cost of a grey beak and tank cover. Not that hard to remove. Or getting your red beak / tank resprayed? The colours will I'm sure be BMW colours. Mr Dutchman might be able to give you some guidance. :)

Ref - hobbit hi there hobbit i also had my GS12 last week and was told that it was a 06 model, could you check for me if your bike has a hazard warning button fitted should be on left hand side handlebar next to trip button as my bike does not have the button fitted :(

Mine doesn't have a hazard button either - you have to press both indicator buttons at the same time (1 week old).

Love the R1200GS (cos I am biased and have one)
Love the look of the 1150GSA loads better

But IMHO i think that if that pic is to be the new 1200GSA, then it is fugly

My R1200 GS is an 2004 model and has the hazard button.
Perhaps an Australian spec.

Cheers

Hazard warning button

My 1200GS (supplied in France) is just over a year old and has the hazard warning button beside the trip reset on the left grip; At that time all models had ABS + servo. I notice that the one tested in Moto Journal (January 2004) also had this button.
According to BoxRMag* the only change for 2006 is the anthracite colour and instrumentation 'par segments' - I'll try and find out what that means ! Brian
* newish bi-monthly magazine, now on number 6 - all about BM's and also pictures of 250+ models for sale secondhand.

When I picked up my 12 the dealer told me the hazard warning change was for "the new model" - don't know if it was for the 2006 model or not.

Interestingly enough, the "livret de bord" [user manual], has no mention of the new hazards and has a picture of the old button! Nothing like keeping up to date!

Picked-up my grey model (I prefer "subtle", rather than "understated" mentioned elsewhere) from SLM last Friday. It's a 2006 spec, which means no hazard button and, as mentioned, you simultaneously hold the two indicator paddles. Checked with Darren in the service dept on Monday when collecting from it's first service.

Only other differences I can find so far are (but not quite got all the way through the book yet);
the colour in the lock indicator window of the panniers. It's green, not red, and
you only get one metal ignition key and one plastic one, instead of two metal and one plastic. However, you can ask for a second metal key under warranty.

No doubt they will update the handbook in due course, but I don't see these as life threatening issues frankly.

Hope this helps,
Penf

Oh yeah; saw the post worrying about the health of SLM. According to the chaps there they can't get enough GS's to sell. They are flying in and out, and no doubt keeping the service guys equally busy. I've seen two lorry loads full of crated bikes arriving there in the last few weeks.

Lower prices!!!!! :hapybnce:

Not quite as daft as it sounds! In the late 90s, the prices were reduced substantially. For instance the R1100RS (predecessor of the R1150RS and ST) had a list price of £10,450 in 1995! 10 years later and the OTR list price of the ST is £9,060.
