Im currently looking at an april 06 1200 Gs with 3400 miles on it which is due its annual service now but has previous annual service and running in service etc however its got extras but I cant seem to find the worth of these:

Vario panniers and topbox
ABS
Heated grips and handguards
Wire wheels
Light bar under beak with guarded PIAA lamps and spots below.
Fastway footpegs.
aluminium cylinder head protectors

Can anyone give me an idea of the individual costs for these extras as options as I cant seem to find details on the net, this will help me decide if the price for the bike is reasonable at £8650

Thanks in advance

at a guess, about £1250 for the extras??,to give you some idea, I paid 7k for a 2005 1200gs,no abs, no heated grips, but it did have the side panniers on,and it had just over 12000 miles on it.
look through the nippy norman stuff, that should give you a good fix on the cost of the extra stuff

The 'worth' of accessories and options is a funny one. You could look at it in terms of resale value when you sell on. Or the cost of the accessories new if you were to put them on now.

If they're already on the bike, I value them at cost I can actually realise later on. Based on that premise:

As for resale value, people will value ABS and will make the bike more saleable if you go for a private sale later on. I'd put a bike with ABS at £500 over stock. Luggage you could strip off and sell for maybe £400. Fastaways worth £50, if you have originals to replace, if not, £0. Wire wheels put as many people off as they attract £0. Ali head protectors £50. The rest is frankly bling. I'd therefore put a value of £950 to £1000 but no more.

appreciate the comments but was more interested in the prices of these options as from the dealer on a new bike namely panniers, heated grips, abs and wire wheels as I'm considering whether to get a new bike and put these on or buy this one for the 8650 with them on already
The BMW sites dont seem to open with the prices of these accessories!! anywhere

If you buy a new'un as soon as you ride out of the dealers the bike has lost nigh-on a grand:augie, and you got'a run it in,get the low milage bike with all them thar bits on it,you won't go far wrong boy:thumb

Are you after a 2007 bike or 2008?

Im currently looking at an april 06 1200 Gs with 3400 miles on it which is due its annual service now but has previous annual service and running in service etc however its got extras but I cant seem to find the worth of these:

Vario panniers and topbox - About £400 for the panniers and £300 for the topbox
ABS - About £700
Heated grips and handguards about £170
Wire wheels - Dunno as an option. about £1200 if you bought them afterwards
Light bar under beak with guarded PIAA lamps and spots below - Depends, a Migsel bar is about £70, Micro DE's maybe £50 or £100's from Touratech!
Fastway footpegs. about £80
aluminium cylinder head protectors about £80

Thanks in advance

Prices rough guide to the new cost

Are you after a 2007 bike or 2008?

I'd just be after a 2007 at latest with the panniers, heated grips and the lights!

Was really wondering if that price of £8650 is reasonable at this time of year with all the bits on, I was still going to try for another £200 off to allow for any mishaps and cover the service costs

Any idea of the costs for those extras on a new bike?
heated grips
panniers
wire wheels
abs

heated grips
panniers
wire wheels
abs

Heated grips are 200 quid extra
Dunno about panniers, they sell for 400ish on ebay
Wire wheels are £260 extra to upgrade
ABS is £1000 extra

FWIW I paid £7500 for a 55reg (just reached 2nd birthday) with 15k miles, panniers, top box, wire wheels, TT engine guards,TT lock guard, TT light brow, TT beak, GSA screen,ABS, Heated grips, finished in yellow. This was from a Beemer main dealer.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal if it is from a main dealer (is it?) but then at that new you'll have factory warranty in place.

no its from a small independant with only the remainder of the warranty until end of April 2008, dont think I'd be too bad if I can squeeze another 200 out of the deal!

I honestly feel to buy a new one then spend more on the extras would be just too much for me as it would end up about the 11k mark probably

From memory, a month ago I was quoted 10400 for a brand new bike with wires, abs, full luggage, heated grips but no pia / pegs. No partex, cash. So I would say the price you quote for a 2006 is neither silly expensive nor cheap.

Got a KTM in the end.

If you're after a 2007 model, there's only stock left, so you'll have to choose what they've got left. You'll probably end up with much more than you actually want i.e. computer, ASC, etc. to get what you want. There's deals to be had with the dealers, so I'd just get down there and negotiate.

Simple - what is the bike worth to you?

Why not go for something a couple of years older with more miles... and save another couple of grand.

Just remember you're buying an old model now... the new version is out... so the old will be worth less now.
