I've taken my '05 1200GS to NOG to have some work done on it and they have kindly loaned me a '08 1200GS which has allowed me to have a good 'ole poke about the new kid on the block.
Now I know that the motor is from the 1200R and it does feel slightly more sprightly than the old one as a result but what about the rest of the bike? I know that looks will be subjective and a matter of personal taste but my God - what were BMW thinking of when they settled on this dogs dinner
It's as if they've been sat round the table in the board room and gone 'Right, we've shoved in a new motor - what else can we do to it?' and then they've either been stoned, pissed or both when they settled on the design put forward by the bloke with the white stick and labrador.
It looks worse in the flesh than it does in the pictures - titanium coloured wheels and cylinder head covers, gold coloured forks, two tone hand-guards and that nasty aluminium trim on the front of the tank panels
I see they've managed to retain some sense of sanity & good taste with the '08 GSA so I fail to see why they've gone so OTT with the standard GS.
Surely I can't be the only one who thinks they've tried just a little too hard?

- but then I also liked the Scarver so maybe I should

for a 08 model about 6 weeks ago, IMHO the new model is an marked improvement over the old one.
