Tried it just for a short ride. standard 2010 seat replaced with sargent low, principally to get better foot contact. A slight improvement but no where near as much as I was hoping. Wonder if the 2010 seat has compressed with 1300 miles use? I can see how the sargent is narrower at the front which helps but not much absolute movement downwards towards terra firma. Also the standard is squashier and on a brief ride more comfortable. And it holds you in place better. You guessed it I am wondering If I have wasted £320. Someone please tell me it gets better with use yada yada yada......

I have a Sargent low on my 07 GS. The Sargent is slightly higher than the standard low seat and doesn't seem much better initially. Take heart! the Sarge:Dnt beds in beautifully and is much more comfy on long days than the standard low

When it's bedded in it will be a lot more comfortable than the standard seat, your bum will thank you for the change.

It's only about an inch lower than the standard seat though, if you need something lower than that I think the only option is to lower the suspension with some new custom shocks.

I can manage, more or less, with a low seat and my 29" inside leg.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooo yes best dosh i ever spent just gets better and better .

I had a standard height Sargent on my '07 GSA and it was fine but found I needed the lower seat for the '10 GSA. Already rode over 4000 miles in nine days with the Sargent on the Dash and it was a life saver. Best mod I could make.

. . . A slight improvement but no where near as much as I was hoping. ......

These were my thoughts exactly when I fitted my standard height Sargent seat. I expected to be completely overwhelmed by the improvement.

However, I do believe it is significantly better than the original and now I actually notice the slight 'bounce' in the seat itself as I ride along. And it does provided a much larger surface area for the erse to seat interface.

Stick with it.

thanks for the encouragement. I am going to stick with it for now - and keep it in good nick because there seems to be a a good demand for these secondhand....

had an advanced riding lesson this morning and my instructor picked up on a few low speed control issues. As so often seems to be the case it might be better to improve the rider than the bike...

sending it back

I'm sending it back unmarked under sellers 7 day gtee. Replaced the standard ( not low) BMW seat and no doubt now there is no difference in foot to the floor distance between the standard on low setting and the sargent low on low which was my main reason for buyng one. Don't be fooled by the numbers in various theads/ adverts which suggest otherwise.

Main problem is the onset of slight lower back pain which I never had with the standard. I think this is because of the rear ridge on the sargent slightly affecting your spine angle. No doubt this is just a personal problem for me but I had no such pain with the standard. After a few hors in the saddle ( I'm going to leave that typing error because it made me chuckle on my proof read !) with the sargent I can see how it fits your bum and upper legs better and for people without dodgy backs could well be more comfortable in the long run.

But its the standard seat and £320 back for me..... now what can I spend that on .. some winglets to go with my GSA screen for starters I reckon.
