Some key points

BMW logged an average of 48.1 mpg, that’s 22% more than the Tiger (39.6 mpg). However, the F800 only has a 4.2-gallon tank versus the Tiger’s 5.0 gallons. That gives them a virtually identical range of around 200 miles

For the street the BMW was king in the corners
Out back is a different story.

The roll-on power of the Triumph at 75mph left the BMW in the dust.

After riding the Tiger we were surprised to find that it weighs more than the BMW. The XC is just barely less than 500 pounds (496) with a full tank of fuel. It does hold 0.8 gallons more than the Beemer, but even with the extra fuel taken out of the equation the Tiger is still four pounds heavier. There’s no way you could have convinced our testers of that without showing them the scales. Triumph did a great job of hiding the weight,

The Triumph may look like the BMW, but they certainly don’t act the same. We’re happy to find that the Tiger has a personality all its own, and it’s a darn good motorcycle.

Although the BMW is the standard that all others are judged by, there is a new judge in town – the Tiger. Triumph beat BMW at its own game.
