Ref Water leaks, I have just bought a Meganne Cabriolet which they all used the same "platform" for
Cleaning and Silicone grease or even better Mike P's Gummi-pflege smoothed on to the Clean rubber seals has restored my ones watertightness
It was neglected for a few years, Yesterdays Storm proved my efforts at Cleaning and lubricating the rubber joints and greasing all the pivot mechanisms had been well worth it!
VW for some reason always managed to do the engineering side of things better! Built to a cost, rather than built "down to a price"
My Meganne does things okay, But the EOS does it with Flair and Panache !!
I forgot the mileage so it’s just over 78800 miles. As for leaks as DrFarkoff says you have to maintain the seals. More importantly you have to make sure the drains are clear. As long as they are it shouldn’t leak unless the roof is twisted. This is my second one and they are great to drive top up or down. As for being off the road it wouldn’t start so I have fixed that with an intake decoke and new injectors. These direct injection engines suffer from coke build up (and not just VW’s) as the fuel doesn’t go through the intake manifold. A lot of manufacturers vent the crankcase into the manifold and the oily gunk builds up causing problems which only a decoke can put right.
