This is my wife’s R1200R, she when she bought it six years ago, it had only covered 1,200 miles from new. Originally a dealer registered demo, he bought it at six months old and proceeded to put just 500 miles on it in the next 5 years, and it’s now done a low 12,780 miles from new.
Overall, it’s still in really nice condition, has no corrosion and is lovely to ride. The only fault I am aware of is the perennial faulty fuel strip which dogs this era of BMW’s. Because they are so unreliable, I’ve never bothered having it fixed, and simply fill up once the trip meter is approaching the 200 mile mark, and we’ve never had an issue with running out of fuel or knowing how much is left in the tank.
As a precaution, the filler neck aperture was cleaned and Hammerited when we got the bike and a S1000 XR tank ring seal fitted. The R1200R is known for corroding in this area of the tank as water can sit there if the drain is blocked. Handbook, V5 and 3 keys all present and correct. Non ABS, non ESA model.
It’s had two major services and one interim service in the time she’s owned it. The last big one being done by Steve at Rainbow Services at 8,000 miles, which included valve clearances and all the oils and fluids being changed prior to a trip to Portugal.
The bike has a few extras fitted and included with the bike.
Ilmberger carbon fibre rear hugger.
SW-Motech Bar back handlebar risers.
Wunderlich foot rest lowering kit.
Rapid Bike Easy fuelling module to smooth out the low speed running.
Givi top box mounting kit and plate.
BMW Comfort seat.
BMW Fly Screen.
BMW Cylinder Head Guards.
Adjustable span levers.
I’m located 2 miles from Donington Park / East Midlands Airport. If you have any questions, or would like to come and view the bike, then please get in touch.
