Just fitting new brake pads to a 2013 F800GS and cannot get them to clear the disc, brake fluid reservoir top off and some fluid drained out to allow for new pads callipers cleaned, transfer arms greased and free, calliper pistons moving OK. Is it possible that the ABS unit has any involvement or could the pads be too thick they are of uncertain manufacture as they were supplied with bike, has anyone had a similar experience never had this before myself after quite a few pad changes on various F800GS's any help/ideas appreciated.

New pads by their very nature are always going to be a tight fit. Have you taken the calipers off their mounting in order to retract the pistons fully before attempting to get them back over the disc? ABS only works when the ignition is on (Do not turn it on just yet!). Pads too thick - possible, but not my first choice.

Never had an issue with fitting pads to an 800. Between me and Magnet we've had four now from 2008 onwards. Used OEM and aftermarket pads.

I did have an issue once with aftermarket pads for a 1200 being a bit 'thick'.

Might be worth buying a set or even one/ a pair of pads of known origin to compare. More expense I know but they'll get used at some point.

Micky might have a view on this with his 100k plus mileage 800. Having said that he's such a riding God he's probably only changed them once:D

Yep Iv'e had 4 800s since 2008 and never had a problem before The callipers were taken off originally and the sliders everything greased and cleaned the pistons went fully back and all was OK until brake was operated, it's now sorted the problem was the a slight bit of corrosion/s**t in the grooves the piston seals fit in causing them to bind when retracting new seals fitted bled up and all OK thanks for the help and advice.
