Hi

It's my first BMW, and love the bike.

I have Dynamic ESA (& all option inc engine modes) and after trying many options can't find anything suitable for Australian bumpy roads (The Putty rd and Old Northern rd to Wiseman's). I am riding quickish, solo in the 100-120km/h range.

Any thoughts?

Graham

Any thoughts?

G'day mate,

Just three...

Um... That you can't find any combination of ESA / engine mapping that suits you

Um... That you need a different bike, maybe one with conventional suspension that you can set-up to suit you on the roads you want to ride

Um... That you need to consider avoiding riding the bumpy Putty and Old Northern roads at between 100 and 120 kph

Wapping - Australian spec bikes don't have the settings you suggested. You Brits are lucky! Your own language, better specifications, the best humour, smoother roads and all of Europe next door. :)

Thanks also for your thoughts!

Graham

You forgot our amazing cricket and rugby teams!

Play tyre pressures too; the conventional 36/42 is just a benchmark guide. Some of us are nine stone, (not many on here :D) and some of us are nineteen stone.....

If youre being skipped and bumped all over the road try dropping them a couple of psi ....

I have ridden those roads often on my 13 GSW with ESA and the suspension is perfect for me and at higher speeds. When you set ESA to HARD and you are speeding, if you hit a bump, a twig or water the bike will skip a bit, usually just one wheel, just trust it, let it do it's thing, it will resettle quickly without input from you. Bumpy and uneven roads will bounce any bike and unsettle it at speed. They key is to keep your nerve and pin it if neccessary to get back on line and tighten up the corner you just ran wide into.

I am in the nineteen club too, lol. Just bought a new Klim Badlands Pro jacket and was thrilled that their 2XL is the perfect fit. Got to love our fellow lardy American brothers. I usually buy 5XL to 6XL in jackets.

- I have tried lower tyre pressures, no joy.
