2014 GS1200LC Engine Bars

AltRider Engine Bars & Sump Guard

Can I add my $2/2p worth.

I have the AltRider Engine Bars & Sump Guard fitted, I'm not near my bike at the moment but here's the link to the US AltRider webpage with all the detail:

http://www.altrider.com/altrider-cr...the-bmw-r-1200-gs-water-cooled/pid/1383/cid/1

Coming from an engineering background, having looked at the alternatives before deciding and with a keen eye for quality I can say. hand on heart, that this is a premium product.

The engine bars are a work of art, really well thought-out by someone who knows what's what and fantastic finish. In terms of appearance, "chunky" and really well put together, I'm impressed.

Of note of course is how the Bars fit to the bike and provide protection unlike other bars or indeed the OEM items (which I started out with).

As to the Sump Guard, t'is my favourite farkle.... now THAT is design/fabrication ~ is really good, sets the bike apart from others and attracts much attention from other AdvRiders attempting the tricky stages outside Starbucks. Seriously, is heavy-duty product of top end quality and brilliant design.

These things will handle anything and I'll attempt to post a picture of my GSW on it's side (on soft, forgiving carpet) to demonstrate that cylinder heads come nowhere near to floor and fact that underside of bike is completely protected.

Mine is a 2014MY.

In short ~ I'm very impressed.

PS: I didn't import from US, AltRider are in Europe too but I simply sorted via Cliff at the Adventure Bike Shop in Suffolk (known of course to many on this forum as the go-to-guy) and who can be reached via email [email protected]

Where did you buy the TT crash bars from. Like the look of them, but can only see them advertised in Motorworks site, or through TT Wales.

I bought mine via TT Wales but at the London bike show, delivered within a week, and no issues with the correct fittings.

Had a in issue with previous crashbars from Altrider, However their customer service is first class and would buy from them again.

After my previous post on this thread about the 2013 lower crash bars, I decided to see if they would fit.

Just got in from the workshop, and can confirm that 2013 Givi Stainless steel definitely fit a 2014 bike.

Good luck...................

I'll say this, AltRider have the customer service side of things absolutely nailed now for sure!

You want immediate attention / face-to-face Skype advice? You got it.

You want your farkles delivered to UK promptly and exactly as ordered without any quibbles? You got it.

Having lived, for years, with waiting for orders, returning orders, defective parts from Italy or elsewhere in Europe ~ THIS is service.

Fair played, they certainly have 'energy (and certainly more energy than I have!).

Just asked SW MOTECH if the 2013 GS LC bars would fit 2014 MY, their reply:

Hey Alan,

thanks for email and intrest

unfortunately this part doesn’t at the new 2014 R1200GS LC.
We speed up to develop a new one…

Regards
