Good evening everyone

Couple of days ago out of nowhere(luckily after the MOT;)) I got a yellow warning triangle and the "lampF" message,
it has been coming and going since, does not seem to have a pattern tough,
when the message appears the upper half of the low beam bulb turns off and some times afterwards(not always) the bottom side too.
Today I have tried to flick the high beam and it all turned back on without message on the dash..

I at my wits end in trying to understand if I'll have to get a new assembly or it can be repaired, might try to pop in to the dealer and see if they will check the codes for me.. before I buy an obd reader..

Any advise you guys might had are very welcome..

Thank you

Simone

I think possible fan problem

+1 to that - it's the cooling fan for the LED bulb. Power is cut once the LED starts to overheat.

You talk of the dealer - have you got any warranty? If not you may find their solution a tad expensive.

Here is a parts diagram of the suspect fan & associated infrastructure ............. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sh...-K50-BMW-R_1200_GS_0A01,_0A11_&diagId=63_1952

I know, it all seems a tad complex compared with a simple bulb, such is progress. It may be just the connections, or a dry solder joint. Hopefully not the LED itself.

Thank you for that!!

Will get my hands on a diagnostic tool(called BMW and the earliest appointment will be in a week and the ask upwards of 100 quid and hour..) and try to narrow down the issue, but at the moment the fan is the more likely culprit..

The diagram will be put to good use, thanks again

I had a what sounds like the same problem a few weeks ago, it turned out to be a slightly loose battery ground connection. Try popping off the cover on the right hand side and checking everything's fastened up tightly and there's no corrosion on any of the ring connectors.
