2023 Honda Transalp launched

Wise words….I suspect my 65 kgs weight will not overwhelm the suspension 😁🙏
The Transalp arrived at 3.30 pm on Tuesday and yesterday I did 230 very wet miles down to Portland Bill and thereabouts....gave me some ideas of what I may need to add (handguards and a rear rack might be high on that list, and intriguingly none of the old Givi Tanklock bags officially fit the required flange - itself different from the one I just took off my Hornet! Supposedly to do with the Africa Twin-like tank shape).

Even running in it has lots of ooomph (like my Hornet) and a great sitting position (for me).

First service booked for week after next.

I bought the givi flange as I already have 4 Givi bags but in the end as I had specced the bike with everything apart from panniers and top box (got top loading metal ones at a steel) I got the dealer to fit the Honda tank bag and to be honest I love it it seems to be just enough for me
the GIvi bags do fit and work without issue, I have fitted them on mine,

Interesting…seems like I was misinformed/got the wrong end of the stick. Now if that flange is surplus to your requirements….

Thanks please do…I am just trialling my existing wind deflector (wunderlich style) which seems to be doing a good job

I have now put my Transalp up for sale. Please see my advert in ‘other bikes sales/wanted’.

As well as an e-clutch option for 2026, Honda have snuck in an SP version for the UK that was previously only available in Spain and Portugal.
Nothing radical , but a fancy graphics kit, gold rims. Upper and lower crash bars and a hefty sump guard.
Still no tubeless or cruise .

When everything has cruise, digital this, that and the other...there'll be a hankering for simpler times.....

I’ve seen a couple of tubeless wheel options but they’ve required various degrees of pissing about with hub bits and pieces, I’d rather find a complete set that I just put brakes and tyres on and fit. In the meantime i can cope fine, but one of my other bikes is 29 years old and has tubeless tyres, with spokes, for mixed riding. Come on Honda!

Thinking of getting one if these, test ride pending. Anyone got any advice/review stories? Seen YouTube but like to get grass roots view.

Many fans on here .
I’m not one to be honest . Rode one for the day in Gran Canaris and although it’s not slow , most the power is at the top of the rev range .
Riding in the amazing playground of Gran Canaria, on some of the gnarlier mountain roads I found I was always in the wrong gear . Third was too high but second too low .
Following year had a Vstrom 800 DE for the whole week and on the same roads you could leave it in third due to the huge midrange grunt .
Everybody wanted to try the Transalp as it was brand new in Dec 23 but everybody who had it for the day had same opinion as me .
The Vstrom 800 is in a different league despite the power stats on paper being more impressive for the Honda .
Don’t buy a Transalp without also trying the Vstrom !
