Suspension now by Marzochi and brakes by Nissin.

Biggest news is new lower seat height as standard

Nice new XE colour too

It's much more accessible than the XC. But so many nice things have been chucked out. Adjustable suspension, gear and foot brake folding tips, etc. I bought a used XC but was momentarily tempted by an X. Me being a bit on the short side.

If you're tall enough buy a used XE.

If you're a little shorter buy a used XC.

Don't bother buying a new scrambler

Lots of second hand 1200 XE's out there with low miles and lots extras which represent great value.

Personally I went for a pre -reg 2024 XE at a good discount as wanted to avoid the keyless ignition and find the Marzocchi suspension an improvement over the Ohlins as they are more compliant and less harsh especially once you have set the rider sag :)

Would recommend either (y)

Latest 1200 X though does represent a bit of a drop in the spec compared to the XC.

I've been looking at several Youtube videos on the 1200X, I particularly like the look of the Ash grey version. The fact that it has a lower seat appeals to me as I'm a 30 inch inside leg. I'll have to get a test ride.

XE amazing bikes if you have the inseam to suit. Marzochi a huge improvement over the harsh and ‘ built to a price level’ Ohlins.

29" inside leg, me. I have an XC, though I don't have much preload on the rear shocks and the forks are up through the yokes about an inch. I also have a low seat on it, but that's a hard plank!

Agreed - not used mine much since getting my Desert X in April but put a few hundred miles on the 1200 XE over last 2 weeks which has reminded me what a great bike it is :D

Luggage carrying is one restriction for me, I prefer two panniers to one large seat bag and for a camping trip I think I’d struggle unless the exhaust was moved
