Supposedly 145 bhp from 900cc.
Africa Twin slays GS in 2027 ?

It does appear to be an electric supercharger, in that it is driven by a motor rather than by the exhaust.
Though you could argue that it’s not positive displacement, so it’s an electric turbo-compressor

I wonder why they didn’t do both, using the exhaust gas when it’s available, and the electric motor (which must be pretty juicy) when there isn’t enough energy in the exhaust.

And indeed, it could have been an effective turbo generator in the few moments when there’s exhaust energy but the throttle demand is low. Perhaps too complicated/pricy.

But definitely an exciting innovation.

Its more a supercharger than a turbo charger,

And depending how its driven, will have a big effect on it's power and effficiency

love the idea. Had an ATAS and just felt it lacked a wee bit of power when compared to the 1250 / 1300.
when my 13 broke down this year the only bike i really fancied was the AT however the difference in HP put me off a wee bit noting 'Hondas' dont break down' (not starting that again).

if they do put this engine in the AT it could make it the market leader which would be great.

Looks like a great design from Honda. Loving the idea of 3 cylinders. Very compact too. I see it has 2 batteries. I just for the supercharger.
Electric super chargers have been around for a while now, as a quick simple to install boast.
Can't wait to see the finished article.

When I had my ATAS I never felt it lacked power compared to the 1250/1300.
Do 1250/1300 owners feel their steeds lack power compared to 1290 owners ?

Remember….more power is better…..apparently.
I would imagine we all use only a small percentage of the available power most of the time.
