my first BMW, a 2010 gsa, has been a good 2 years with the clock passing 20k miles

forgetting rear drives, what repairs can i expect over the next 20,000 miles

items such as the clutch, shocks etc

ta in advance

Apart from consumables like pads and discs I suspect your biggest expence will be shocks. The standard one's aren't the best but are good for around 30k. If you are intent on keeping the bike, a set of aftermarket shocks like Wilburs or Ohlins are a great investment:thumb

IME. Shocks every 25K rear disc around 70K Front discs nearer 90-100k.

Your riding style and tolerance to shock ride, brake usage will vary to me so the above figures may not apply :-)

Nothing to worry about.

Surely you must sell it to someone who knows no better.

All 1200s melt to dust within 20k, you've just been lucky.

Expected repair bills for your next 20k are around £100,000. Everything will break, at least twice.

Then go and buy yourself something well made, like a Ducati.

Happy to help!

my 2004 1200 has covered 50,000 miles now,it has had 1x fuel pump controller,1x ignition switch ,1x final drive rebuild(which i carried out myself, and now offer as a service to other tossers)it has been totally reliable, although the rear shock is just starting to weep slightly.dont read to much doom and gloom from these pages they are a great bike just enjoy it:D

21000 miles

my 2007 GSA is going in next week for a slipping clutch, I am hoping that its not a wear and tear item as its £400 all in to replace.I hope it will be covered under warranty, I dont think the clutch should need replacing at 21500 miles, along with the final drive being replaced at 18000 miles under warranty. Love the bike but a Guzzi Stelvio looks good if I could ever affrod one.
