I've got a spare set of wheels already with TKCs on. Good compromise tyres.

I am hoping a set of proper off road rubber will be better, and I will use them 80%+ off road.

Questions:

- Has anyone tried, does it make a difference.

- Recommendations on rims. Would standard 250/400 moto-x fair be suitable, can pick up at sensible prices used.

- Recommendations on tyres (its a lot of weight). Make and widths.

- Any gotchas to look out for?

Does anyone by any small miracle have any used rims, hubs, spokes?

Plan is to build myself using a local wheel builder.

Any help much appreciated.

hmmm I have just read on the HUBB that a R100GS front rim might be the perfect rim for the job. Anyone got one?

I remember that Rikardo Kuhn had issues with 18" rims on the rear with the tyre fouling the swing arm, that was on an 1100 not sure about the 1150?

Thanks for 21" Wheel Tips

Hmmm Number 6 has done a right good job there. Doubt mine will be quite as immaculate - after all its going on this....

Tully - Good to hear from you. Thanks for the fat pegs, they're top dollar!

Wow, I guess thats Rikardo Kuhn as in Rickys Bars. A few searches and many interesting stories. Can't seem to find a way to contact him and I suspect he doesnt want to be contacted - but could be wrong.

Sounds like a quick trip to a MotoX shop to do some experimenting first is in order..

Got a set of wheels now, but seems a shame to break 'em down - anyone got just the hubs?
