When I try to enter an address direct into the unit (Find;Find Address) the 3 data entry options (limit to; number; street) all come up OK.

I then touch the data entry area, pick a drop down (say, limit to;city) to pull up the soft keyboard.

But then the keyboard is greyed out and I can't enter anything:confused:

I've got v9 full European maps loaded, and everything else seems to work.

Any ideas?

thanks

I never use this facility, so can't really help. I've had a quick look at the manual (did you know you can downoad a pdf version from the Garmin website?). Page 19 onwards gives a good tutorial in finding addresses; I'm sure the answer will be there. For instance, it does suggest that initially the search is limited to where the map pointer is located - not too many cities in the sea :P

As far as I remember this was something to do with there being too much info, or a incompatibility with CF larger than 4GB. Even though Garmin have supposedly sorted this out, it still happens on the older Garmin units (26 series and below)

What size CF card are you using? I tried a 4gb with all of v9 and had that happen. Put just under or as near as 2gb worh of maps as I could get and it worked fine...........

If you've got a 4gb card it's probably as terayon says unfortunately - even tho some people have had success with 8gb cards

I'm using a 4gb card (sandisk, but not one of the mega fast ones) with all of Europe on it. Is it the size of the card or the amount of info that's the problem? ie, if I delete some of the further reaches where I'm probably not going for a while will that fix it?

:thedummy Thought I was well set up with the 4gig card.

Sounds like that's the issue - I too purchased a 4gb card when they were £12 thinking I could be a lazy sod. 4gb doesn't work on it, but 1.999999999* (:augie) does.

Try it yourself and see

Yup, that's it. Put the 2gig card back in - no problem. Just means I'll have to carry 2 cards for european trips I suppose

thanks for your help.:thumb

I did mean put 1.9gb on your 4gb card - that works too. It's only if you add more than 2gb

That being said. I could find waypoints and objects of interest etc and route to them, just putting in addresses wasn't allowed, which was a tad dissapointing :thedummy

Yeah, I could do everything except addresses. Mostly I use downloaded routes but it's essential to be able to find addresses if you're away for a few days, I reckon.

I already had a card loaded up with 1.9999gb worth so just bunged that back in.
