This question / topic may have been raised before but here goes!!

Has anyone made up or obtained a battery / alternative power source for the 2610?

I would like to use the 2610 when out walking!!

May sound stupid / better smaller syatems etc. but I have my resons:D:D

Can it be powered up by wireing up in series etc. to a made up battery pack or use solar power etc.

Have looked at the Maplin site and came up with this link

Comments with:marcin reson please!

1st one is too expensive, second one only sticks out 5 volts. the 2610 needs 12volts.

Try the local hobby / rc store. they may have rechargeable 12v 2000 mah batteries (a few aa batts joined together) Try to get the highest mah batts you can, they'll keep the gps running longer. The shop will also have the appropriate charger.

All you then need to do is attach a cigarette socket to the battery and a cigarette plug to the charger (don't forget to get the polarity correct :D ) I'm assuming you've got the car lead , if your using the car lead turn the volume down so you don't look like a twat when it speaks at full volume :blast

If you want it to look pretty get a little project box and stick the batteries in that.

alternatively you could buy a second hand Quest, available from ebay from £80. rather more pocket friendly than a 2610 and battery pack.

Folks thanks for all the info.:thumb2

Some interisting links.

Posibly will build my own power pack:mmmm
