I have just recieved my 2610 from those awfully nice people at GPSW and was wondering when the next software release is due out. I remember when I bought my SP111 there was a version due about a month later and if we didn't register it until it was released we could get the latest upgrade free. Does anyone know if there is another upgrade due out soon. The 2610 came with Ver8 on DVD (I need to upgrade my CDRom which fortunately I snapped off on Saturday spinning round in the chair with it open :( )I believe they are on Ver9 now or am I dreaming

Many thanks i advance.

Mapsource v9 seems to be due some time around early next year.

The 2610 software is at 4.80 IIRC.

How long did GPSW take to deliver after your order? I just placed an order for a 2610 as it is now such a good deal but I remember reading recently about someone posting a comment that they had taken ages to to come up with the goods. Just wondering how log I should wait until I hassle them.

ordered mine last Sunday it arrived Thursday so not to bad, although they did e-mail me to say there would be a delay?.

I placed my order last week and the unit arrived on Friday. great service and included all the RAM mounts etc. A great deal!

I asked the guy about the software and he told me a new version is coming out early in the New year, so I wont register mine until then, which should mean I am entitled to the upgrade.

Only one thing concerns me a little, and that is the power cable? It seems so easy to slide in /and off that I wonder how it will be when on the bike? Will it keep coming off? Only one way to find out, I know....but none of you had a problem with yours? (power cables that is.....)

never had a problem, just watch you dont short it out on the bike, as the pins are exposed. Good job garmin didnt design the domestic 13a plug.. we would all be dead!

It can't slip out because of the way the 2610 sits in its cradle.

The Garmin 2610 mount also accepts the plug when the unit is out. Just turn the lead so that the contacts face into the mount and slide it in between the runners provided for this purpose - good design.

Yes there seems to be a quality issue with Garmin leads. The lead they supply to connect to your bikecom system (if you have one) is notoriously poor. A mate I toured with experienced real problems this summer! Still waiting for my order but i suppose its only a week.
About time they put a fitting package together. It was a nightmare before locating the various parts that you needed. How good is the Ram mount that is supplied? - I guess to fit on the cross bar. I like the look of the one that fits around the speedo dial and consequently puts the unit just under the screen. Any expereince?

I've never had any lead problems nor have I read or heard of any - can't be that notorious. There's nothing wrong with the Garmin mount and lead - well made and petrol resistant etc. There are many ways of mounting the unit; depends where you want it positioned.
