2610 Anounce vias/Waypoints

Is it possible to get the 2610 to announce waypoints?I know it will announce via's and can one change a waypoint to a via in mapsource or would it have to be added on the device?
The reason for this question?I have taken some waypoints marked as photo opportunities and used them as waypoints for my up-coming trip to the Alps would just like to know when I am approaching them.Cheers.

mine does it, comes up on the screen as approaching waypoint so and so, only when routing via a waypoint. I'm unsure if it announces it to you verbally because i don't use a speaker.
