Has anyone come up with a good idea for theft protection on the 2610 without using the very expensive TT mount?

I have a RAM cradle which offers no theft protection so was trying to find a way of attaching a small cable lock to the unit but without success as yet.

Any help appreciated.

Only real security is to remove it every time you leave the bike :(

Anything else is only going to slow down someone, sometimes by not very much.

Just keep it out of sight, so put it in your pocket if you leave the bike.

It's a hassle taking it off the bike all the time and too big to put in your pocket unlike the Zumo.
I was going to design and make a cage around it in stainless but did not get around to it yet.

Patzx12, it takes about 5 seconds to remove it from the basic RAM mount, that ain't no hassle.
If you fix a GPS to a bike and leave it on, the scrotes just make more of a mess when they take it, and they will........... in fact they'll take the whole bike to a secluded place and remove it at any cost.
If your willing to risk that, then best of luck to you, but the stats speak for themselves about bike/auto theft and they aren't in your favour

buy the cheaper non lockable touratech mount and make it lockable, thats hat i did with mine :D

Mind it does get removed if i'm away from the bike for any length of time, just handy to know its secure when your filling up or nipping in a shop.

Thank you Timpo, thank you .. it saved me saying it.

It never ceases to amaze me that some never learn and wonder why laziness is so costly. You could use the Garmin cradle as a halfway option between the two.

If you want to make the arm (in the mount) scrote proof , simple and effective method is on this thread posting http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29203&page=2

I think you have answered your own question - sell the 2610 (plenty here will buy it) and get a Zumo. :nenau

I used a Zumo on my lap of Europe last June. It's a good piece of kit but not a great leap forward from the 2610. As long as it is working well I will keep using it I paid somewhere near €1000 for it at the time,
