2610 card swap ?

Can i use the flash card out of my 2610 loaded with mapsource maps in my mates 2610 ?

Yes, but unless you've unlocked the maps onto his GPS it won't let you see them.

If i unlock them with my unlock code does it affect his 2610 in anyway...

You could either:

1 - Add the friends GPS details in your Mapsource unlock details on: https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.faces

2 - Your friend adds your GPS details on his myGarminHome page.

Otherwise AFAIK you can't swap the cards from GPS to GPS.

Whats happened is my mates PC is not working and he's unable to load his 2610 from his own mapsource ...

And we leave for Norway on friday morning he's tried to load his mapsource software on to a laptop but it won't install

Why not load his Mapsource onto your PC, and then he can download it onto his 2610?

You can get his unlock code from him...

Enter it on your PC...

Use that unlock code when loading the maps onto the card...

Then It'll work on his GPS.. (but not yours until you do the same again using your Unlock code...)

Al's right. The unlock codes relate to the specific GPS unit. Because of that, you can't just swap cards between the GPS units.
