2610 clicking noise

I have installed 2610
Audio through autocom active 7.
Im getting fast clicking noise through headphones at all times, but not during Garmin voice commands.
I have the lead with the black and red autocom box, plugged into phone Aux socket.
Power is coming via optimiser socket. I have also tried power direct from battery but no improvement.

Any ideas??

How does the touch screen work. Is that erratic at all?

The 2610 will click when you press buttons, select screen icons etc.

If you have a protective film on the screen then this can cause problems. The film, through normal expansion and contraction as the weather changes can alter the surface tension. This can actuate the cells on the touch screen which mnight cause your clicking. Same applies if the film is permantly tight.

It took me quite a while to deduce why this type of fault occured on touch screen displays in the test area for Xerox printers. Eventually I correlated the failures to sunny days when the ambient temperture soared as they were too tight to install aircon.

HI, Does this only happen on sunny days? Do the tabs switch off? If so, try taping over the infra red remote window with a piece of electrical insulating tape.
On mine I found that sunlight was triggering it, with a click each time, though not constantly.

Don't know if that is what's causing your problem, but you don't need to tape over the infra red sensor anyway. IIRC just press Menu - Options - Menu - and Disable Remote.

Same applies if / when you want it back on. Its a damn site cleaner and quicker than fannying about with tape.

Ive been using it in the tank bag until my Migsel mount arrives so its hidden from any sunlight but will switch off infra red as you say.

Chaps I get this noise too on my Interide RP1, I was forming the opinion that it was something to do with the BMW canbus and was going to stick a capacitor across the power leads to provide some isolation.

Shane let us know how you get on with the suppressor...

Got some great info from Autocom (they are superb aren't they!).

The clicking is caused by the radio going into powersave mode. As mine is powered by the bike, I dont want it in powersave mode.

The solution is to solder a capacitor across the power lead connections on the back of the radio. I'm going to buy a few capacitors this weekend and try just touching them onto the connectors to see which capacity capaitor works best, then solder one on there.

I have the capacitor but i havnt tried it yet as im away for a few days , willtry on my return. Mean time earplugs does the job.
