2610 Continued support

How long do you think Garmin will continue to support and update the software for the 2610?
I am thinking of buying one but am concerned that it will be 'old hat' in a year.

I wouldn't know how long Garmin will continue to issue updates for the 2610, but I imagine that the Mapsource maps will continue to support it for some time to come. If you are thinking of getting one, you had better hurry up, otherwise it will cost you an arm and a leg to get something similar, i.e. a later model from Garmin. It's a great piece of kit

There haven't been too many firmware updates for the 2610 in the last couple of years (the last was Oct 2006) mainly because it's a mature unit that works well.

The mapping updates will be available for a long, long time as they are shared by many other units and the market, therefore, is pretty large.
