2610 fault

my compact flash card is duff and am waiting for a new one to arrive, just tried powering it up without a card in and the screen just blinks on and then off again in a split second....
never actually tried powering up before without a card in it, has the unit now got a fault

The unit should power up without a card. I have done this with my 2610 as I thought the card had a problem. Without the card present you should just see the base map. This means that you only get main roads and not detailed mapping but it should work quite happily.
