2610 Firmware

i think i had v3 something, i then dowloaded a mapsource 6.5 update which i used to update my pc before i had even connected my 2610.

when i did connect the gps, i think it d/loaded the firmware update to it. it was my first time playing with any of this, hennce the element of doubt.

i'm sure i never got a nav II update from garmin. i don't think they even list it.

it all works anyway....

Currently (January 2005) for, Garmin loads the new and newly-repaired 26X0 units with software version 4.2. However, Garmin only makes available for download version 3.90.

Version 4.2 users reported difficulties in renaming the saved routes – causing the 26x0 to freeze then reboot. Garmin recommends changing back to version 3.90.

I have loaded the Navigator II v4.3 firmware onto my 2610 and it performs perfectly.

4.3 firmware on 2610

Does this give you the BMW additional functionality? i.e. the extra compass page and the ability to use the buttons of the BMW cradle?
