2610 page freeze...

Used my 2610 for first time yesterday to navigate route from home to Bala north Wales overall i was very impressed apart from the unit would lose the navigation page and the screen would at random freeze on a page showing somewhere i had previously passed through with a white guidance arrow instead of the black one you see when navigating ,When this happened i pressed the map button and it returned to the navigtion page ,it did this about five times on a 100 mile route ...Does the unit software need an upgrade its version 4.60 audio 2.10 at the moment

It probably just 'lost' the satellite signal from time to time.

If you've loaded maps from Mapsource, there's no excuse for not updating the system software via Garmin's site http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

try covering the "IR" port on the unit up, worked for me

Switching the IR port off worked for me to. Search for it and you should fine the instructions. Not happened since.

yep, sun shining into IR window.
a bit of sticky tape will cure it!!!

2610 freeze

my 2610 is still freezing up with the white arrow appearing ive tried all sorts switch off ir master reset but still does it. i called gargin and they have never heard of it happening but if i send it back they will look into it. their must be some boffins out there who have come across this problem before

IR sensor is still favourite. Put some black insulating tape over the IR window (to the left of the screen). If that doesn't work, send it back.

I was out this weekend with IR sensor turn off and a sun shade fitted ...it worked great no page freeze ect. thanks to all for great advice
