Bought a 2610 from gpsw and straight from the box it is unable to locate any satelites. I've sat wid it in the car for ages (its not in the garage) and it seems to be stuck in Kansas or there abouts. Am I missing something?
My old streetpilot III had a facility for changing this, cant remember. looking in manual for info??

Give the GPSR a helping hand by using 'new location' from the menu on GPS Info page.

1. A window will appear with 'Automatic' and 'Use Map'
2. Select 'Use Map'
3. Then 'pan' and 'zoom' to your approximate location then touch the 'tick' in the top right corner. This will help the GPSR look for the appropriate satellites for your location.

Pages 59 & 60 of the manual detail this function in full :thumb

Sorry all, just sussed it. Sat in the car for about 15 mins wid the engine running, took that long to find my location. Might have bin quicker if I'd known my elevation.
Sorry for 'shouting' too soon.
Thanks all.

I live in a valley between several highish peaks and my new 2610 does not give a position until I start to move and get clear of the buildings/trees close to the house.
