2610 - Silly question??

I bought a second-hand 2610, the vendor included everything I need to fit it onto my bike. Regarding the connection to the power supply, the connector has those copper thingy (sorry can't think of the technical word), + the jack for the headphone/speaker, as I am not going to leave the unit all the time on the bike, is there any risk to leave the cable like that, with the rain going on it. Hope I made myself clear. Thanks

Mines been like that for the past 4 years and its been fine and the bike is used almost daily during the week. Somebody will come along soon and recommend spraying something on it just in case. Silicon spray perhaps ?

Couple of years since I had a 26** but if I remember correctly there is a slot on the mount that the cable can slide into - same shape as the slot on the 26**.
This will keep it fixed and out of the weather when not in use.

Found an image - it slides ito the bit on the left

Not really, when the unit is removed, the copper thingys will be exposed to the elements. Or am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something.

See the 2 angled bits of plastic on the left of the mount?

The fitting with the copper contacts slides in between - where I've put the red block

Easy

clean the pins with an old toothbrush, then put a thin smear of vaseline over the pins, stops them goin green.

In the kit you should have a protective clip on plastic cover for the plug.

i had two when i bought my 2610.
