got a 2nd hand 2610 and power/audio lead, got the kit I needed from autocom and all hard wired, but the sound comes and goes, playing with the socket on the end of the power lead seems to bring it back but is there an easy way to hold the 2 together so that it doesn't just stop working everytime I hit a bump?
I am assuming it is that lead that will be at fault, maybe a little wron, but is annoying missing a turn as no verbal indication and can't always be looking at the screen :thumb

Snooky, we actually cut off the jack plug socket and our jack plugs and hard wire the two joints together. This makes one solid connection ans stops a lot of problems.

Wiring wise if you are up for it you will need to wires as below

Garmin Autocom

White Red
Brown Screen or the outer cable core
Red Cut off
Black Cut off

This will get you sorted no probs

Rich @ Autocom

Cheers mate that might be an idea once it fails, but for now a nice bit of insulation tape at just the right place, and by bending the audio wire in line with the garmin lead and all seems fine now, just got to listen to a bloody woman telling where to turn now :D

I have used electrical contact cleaner on the joint followed by some self-amalgamating tape to make a waterproof joint (Autocom use it over their soldered joints as well). Has been fine for the last year.
