I know this isn't probably news to most but incase someone out there doesn't know the IR window on the 2610 can get false readings in strong sunlight. This results (for those that haven't suffered from it yet) lots of bleeps through the headset and occasionally changing screens. After searching the site all I could find was 'stick some tape over it'. Anyway just downloaded the firmware updates and one of them now means I can manually switch the IR on and off through the options tab:thumb , not news to most but I was chuffed anyway :D

This is really odd. After reading your post I looked for an update for my 2610 and apparently the one I have is current yet I can't find where I can swith the IR off :nenau

Did you do that using the web updater service on the Garmin Website ? :roll

Yep:) , and mine was one of the ones from GPSW just before xmas, needed was quite out of date with updates.

Taff your post didn't come up when I did a search, would have saved me lots of hassle!
