2610 What am I doing wrong?

I have 2610 with v8 mapping. It has Uk and Europecurrently loaded up.

When I search for a European city, say Paris, it fails to find it and yet when i scroll the screen map down, there is Paris and oviously lots of other Uero cities.

Why wont European cities come up in a city search?

I presume its something simple but its the first time ive tried so help needed.

An educated guess , you're over 200 miles from Paris? If you are, spell "paris" and try searching again.

Or, try moving within 200 miles of it and try again.

do you mean put paris in speech marks as in "paris" or just put it i lower case as in paris?

ps. Would the same apply if i put in a UK city that was over 200 miles away then? Inveress for example in my case.

Don't bother with the sppech marks. I don't about upper and lower case with the 2820 it does it for you

Im completely confused now then John.

How does what you've suggested differ from what im doing as stated in my first post? ie a city search for paris, or any other for that matter?

One of the mistakes I have made on frequent occasions is being in the wrong country. You have to select the country to find the right town. I have frequently been stumped trying to find somewhere in Wales, been able to browse to it, but not have it show up. Every time it was due to forgetting to select the country in the search options.

If you are searching for anything in mapsource on the PC it is necessary to click on the "reset" button which is under the "find" button otherwise it will not find anything except locations very close to the last named location searched for.
