Been getting to know my new 276c. Great piece of kit and I have the new one with the new screen (from the America only 376c), really nice sharp and vibrant colours.

The only down side at the moment, is I am map less. I am waiting for an automotive kit, Garmin didn`t have any left, so am waiting for the new kit with C/N V8 to be shipped out! :(

Any way, in the meantime I have been playing with a few things, heres one, start up splash screen. :D :D :D

The pic below doesn`t do the unit any justice, its just the size and compression of pic you can upload into the 276c.

The GS looks good Shedracer :thumb And you could put Garmin Roads & Recreation on you GPS for now, it needs no unlock code (and it doesn’t route ether) :( but it will give you more mapping :thumb

Ebbo, where would I get the Garmin Roads & Recreation from, and is it free? I`m hoping that the new Auto kits will be shipped out next week.

A note on the pics I posted, the screen shots definately don`t do justice for this unit. Colours/sharpeness etc look differrent on the PC comparred to the unit.

I wasn’t aware Garmin had updated the display on the 276c Have you compared your display to any other GPS?

I compared it with another older unit and the colours are more vibrant and some of the features on the map are , or appear to be sharper, both units were with v3.70. Infact, the screen shots above look very similar to what you see on the older unit, whilst the new colours are more vibrant, the text is pinky/red instead of light brown. The older unit screens are still far better than 2610/quest though IMHO. Apparently the screens have been upgraded to the 376c screen to simplify production.

Ummm, might regret asking this, but how do you change the splash screen?

How do you tell if you have an old 276C or a new one?

Not sure how you could check, but I was able to compare mine with an older model. You may be able to check with Garmin, but don't get too preoccupied with this, the older version is still an excellent screen. Just use and enjoy. :thumb
