Hi there

I have a Quest 2 at the moment but am considering a 2820 - could anyone kindly tell me both how the unit is fixed in place on the mount and how it is released ie., is it a quick release so you can remove it when your bike is parked? I have tried looking at pictures of the mount but can't make out how it's fixed even when enlarging the photo.
Any help would be appreciated.

On the Garmin 2610/2820 (and everything in between) mount, there are two lugs that slip into holes on the bottom of the GPS, on either side of the automotive mount ring...

There are two lugs that sort of 'clunk' into retainers on the back, so the GPS 'snaps' into place in the mount.

There is a metal retaining 'pin' (bit of spring steel plate) that when the top of the mount is pushed down, locks the GPS into the mount.

In the middle of this push-down bit, is a special Torx fastener, that you (if you are so inclined) screw down so that it's not easy to realease the GPS from the mount without the tool...

If you choose not to use the torx lock-down, then removing the GPS is as simple as lifting the top of the mount up 3mm (ish) rolling the GPS forward out of the mount, dissconecting the connector (easy slide to the side) and you are done...
