30k and its all gone wrong ... what do you reckon??

Should also add that roger seems to have been very systematic thus far, there is no doubt that the lamda probe was U/S, it was returned to me toatallly coked up

look at the original post...

Suddenly, post 30k service its running like a dog when warm....

go through what they did in the service and re-check it all. - like electrical connector blocks for instance.. ??

edit - how about a tight valve clearance ?? check them with 5 bars showing and re adjust them to 1.5thou red hot - just to prove its not them.

Looking at what's been changed it looks like you've had what I had (although on an 03 twin spark model and I was still using the OE exhaust) at around the same point in the bike's life.
The other bits that were replaced on mine were the motronic unit for the lambda sensor, which helped, but it wasn't until Vines took a look at it and plugged the ignition coil back in properly (and had negative views of the shaven monkey that had botched it all up) that it was working properly again.

Well bugger me it was a HT lead all along ...

... which was arc-ing when the engine was fully warm.

Full report tomorrow when I collect the bike ... back on the road at last :thumb :clap :clap

It was the last of a long list of faults ... the lambda probe was shagged ... seems to have caused no end of bother .... :(

Could have been far worse, was quoted £700 for a replacement control unit

Will know the full story tomorrow

Epilogue

There was a tiny nick in the HT lead under the tank ... when the engine got to a certain temperature it would arc out ...

Couldn't get a piccie as the offending part has been sent to BMW, having said that the nick was so small I'd need a macro lens to capture it.

Bike is running A1 now.

:bounce1

Since it only happened after the 30k service, I'd hazard a guess that the bloke doing the service nipped it with something. Refund due, I should think.
