Has anyone used this stuff

I need to protect the rear bumper on my SAAB Estate from the dog jumping in and out

Can it easily be cut to size

Is it easy to fit without air "bubbles"

Would also be useful for the front edge of those valuable G/S Paris Dakar tanks

i've used clear Fablon on a couple of VWs. it works well but...

it's a bugger to get the right shape and takes great care to get (most of) the bubbles out.

where do you source the 3M stuff from?

I have used it on a couple of occasions. The trick is to use a fine spray of soapy water on both surfaces and gently work the bubbles out, large areas are obviously more difficult than smaller ones. Don't worry too much about getting rid of all the bubbles as most smaller ones will dissapear as the water/soap mixture dries and the film bonds to the surface.

You can buy it on 2" wide rolls from almost all bodyshop suppliers / paint companies. The 3M stuff is the best for bumbers as it's thick and durable. Also easier to apply from a roll.

good for R100GS tank protection ?

would this be the stuff to use to replace what protects the tank paintwork from the nose of the seat on a paralever. Having turned yellow with age on mine it looks naff against white paint.
Cheers

Yes, that's the stuff, bodyshops use it mainly to protect rear wheel arches from stone chips, but has loads of uses.
