I haven't been out on my XC for months for one reason or another.

So today I gave it a good clean and lube and headed out for a quick bimble.

Planning on taking some back roads to Macclesfield and then up into the Peaks - a few gentle lanes then home.

Need tools and spare tubes? ... no. Just a can of tyreweld will do me.:augie

Nipped in Wilmslow to get some fuel then headed down towards Congleton.

Got a flat front tyre 4 miles from home. No probs - whacked it full of tyreweld and it stayed up - for all of 2 minutes.:blast

Ended up riding it home at 10 miles an hour. Game over.

Stick a new tube in tomorrow and have another go - hey ho.

Remember - take proper tool kit with me tomorrow.:rob

Tyre weld doesn't work on inner tubes (to the best of my knowledge).... Mooses is the future:augie

Mooses? i tried fitting one of those once, but couldn't get his antlers inside the tyre, and he wouldn't sit still while i did it either.

Seriously, mooses are fine if your on the dirt, but i understand they don't like a lot of road work- which seems to be on the increase as we slowly loose more lanes.
They don't last for ever- 18 months maybe?, and cost around £100 each IIRC

I've been running 4mm thick tubes front and rear, with tyre slime in them. I very seldom get problems.

Now i really wish i hadn't said that :blast

+2 on andy's comment about tyre weld. never seen in work on a tubed tyre.

That's exactly what I had in them.

It had worked for me once before but that was just a small thorn thru the tyre but I guess this time the tube was completely screwed.

Out with the tyre levers in a bit ... coz its a nice sunny day.
