nice bike Mikey. Ive just bought a 520 exc and upon checking it doesn't appear to have an ecu unit (just behind the left hand fork on the frame, there are 2 bolts for one but nothing there! is this bad? bike seems to run fine, what does it do? and do you need one? I'm baffled....

Can't help you I'm afraid,on my 2004my the box is the ignition unit,what's yours 2002? Ish
I feel sure someone with more product knowledge will be along soon enough

Thanks Mikey, ive been told its a cdi unit and I should find it under the tank, as a lot of people move them because the forks can squash them in a spill...

I've got a 525 and it's a lot of fun. I changed the gearing last year and put dual purpose tyres on it so I could commute to work (14 miles of twisty country roads both ways) and it's just a blast! Enjoy.
