New Job means moving North for 6-9 month from November.. so looking for accommodation within reasonable commuting distance to Belfast dock / M2 / M3 area (if that’s not too vague, looking at a place in Lisburn at the weekend)
Looking for an apartment / flat for short term lease but will also consider taking a room in a house.. as I only plan on being there Monday PM – Friday…. Weekends etc back home
If you know of anything, let me know…. Cheers

When you're up at the weekend Dave buy the local paper. Plenty of places to let in it. The Ulster Star, also try Shooters Estate agents and McClelland Salter Estate agents. They are local to that area. Good luck with the search :thumb

Jesus H if you are going to be working in the dock area you do NOT want to be coming on from Lisburn / Moira

The M1 Can be 9 to 10 mile tailback in week time rush hour with Wankers that don;t know what he left lane is actually for

It's pretty schite everywhere to be honest The Fuckwit planners that never put in the main flyover bridges so you end up with backed up traffic everywhere of a morning and night

Holywood Garnerville Newtownards Craigantlet even maybe as far as Bangor as there is a back door to the harbour from Ikea on that side

Whiteabbey glengormley newtownabbey may do for a quickish commute too with out huge traffic problems

If you want to PM me your work location I can suggest better knowing which side of the river Lagan you intend to be working on

If you are stuck Let me know as I may have a spare room to help you for a weeks or so if needed

+1 :)

Jay is right, the M1 is the last place you want to be during rush hour so I'd stay clear of Lisburn. Getting into Belfast in the morning from any direction is a pain in the arse but the M1 is by far the worst.

If it is the docks you are working at Bangor, Holywood direction could work as you could get the train and commuter bus to the docks, that would avoid the Sydenham Bypass, where the city airport is, which is also a nightmare at rush hour

Sorry as the big guy pointed out you could turn off before the bypass to get to the docks, good thinking :)

Got a taste of this on Wed evening about 5pm passing through on the Clancy run; huge tail back coming into the city from the north & impossible to make real progress on M1/A1 with lane hoggers. Had to do one or two undertakes after watching cars do the same thing. Just like Dublin really.

Thanks guys... appreciate all the info.... I was initally thinking of Lisburn as it on route back south.... but probably not ideal in hindsight :blast

Jay... a little more info... I'll be working for a freight company setting up in Ireland... We have a new piece of business, with the customer based of the A2... so will need to get the them regualarly, the docks and the airports.. Office location is yet to be decided, but may be looking around Westbank Rd...

Will take your advise and look a little closer to the A2 etc:jager..... :aidan
