Hi gents ,

As the title suggests , bike is 2010 r1200gs , what spares would you bring if any ?

Thx for the input

You won't need much. This is all I take on mine for long trips:

Puncture repair kit and small compressor
Spare FPC and EWS
Spare brake and clutch levers
Duct tape and cable ties
HT lead
Good tool kit as the standard one is crap

Check that your battery is up to scratch and that's about it. :thumb

Would recommend stop'n'go plugs for punctures (available on ebay) as well as some gummy worms.

Also Best Rest products (available from Metal Mule) compressor, which is beefy enough to seat the bead of a tyre with a bit of lube and a ratchet strap plus a bit of bouncing.

In addition get an 1150!.

1) Credit card.

2) List of BMW Motorrad dealers within close proximity of your chosen route, along with their contact details.

3) Plenty of potable water in case you break down in the back of beyond.

4) Phrasebook with the most used phrases such as "My motorcycle is fekked" in Spanish and Portuguese etc.

I've never yet snapped or broken a lever...(touch wood) despite carrying a few around in my time.... far better to take a spare set of throttle and clutch cables... something you may not get everywhere, unlike the levers....

those little wind up gadgets that filter water are brill - if you are anywhere near rivers (i think you will be) they are a good backup and take the fear out of running dry (or carrying a few tons of h2o about)

Essential equipment for intrepid travellers to Tesco on next year's water cooled GS, no doubt.......
