Hi all, could do with some help. I did something stupid to my lovely Dakar that now means I need two new side mirrors and rear indicator...:blast
Can anyone recommend where I can buy these parts please?
And if one were to inquire... for no reason of course... where one might be able to find other parts for a 04 dakar such as fairing??? I have had a look at bike bits with no luck.

Hope someone can help. Thanks

Hi Al,
good name :thumb
Motorworks do aftermarket mirrors for the 650GS, I've got a pair on mine and I reckon they're better than the OE ones. Much cheaper too.
If you're going to be doing something silly on a regular basis you might consider Touratechs' flexi indicator replacement set which represents suprisingly good value for money from TT.

Thanks Brassmonkey! I had a look at both sites looks like they will do the job!

Any ideas on where I can get a replacement for my front mug guard (the blue nose)?

Thanks again!

The reason that you have a Dakar, fantastic bike, was to take it off road and push it :nenau
Been known to confuse my ambitions with my abitities....

:augie But thats what the 650 is soo good at, drag it back up, pick up the broken bits, turn the starter and that Rotax single purrrrs :thumb
New mirror :augie dent in tank thingie (Thats where my boot hit it on the way over the bars :D) so what. :augie
Enjoy the Dakar, its a great bike. Next time you go off-road, take the mirrors off afore ya go :clap

i don't think the nose section is too expensive direct from bm, make sure you order the two decals as well as they don't come ftted, as i found out

Thanks rc mad! ... So the blue nose/mud guard comes white and the blue is a decal?

How did you find fitting it?

Wow things aren't looking too bad! Just have to sort out the back left fairing and ali exhaust plate and I am back to new... to do it all over again!

One last question for anyone... in the process of me doing my impression of Evel Knievel the left control unit twisted around the handle bar, so the indicator is almost underneath the handle bar. Is this just a matter of loosening some screws and replacing?

Thanks for everyones posts so far!:thumb:thumb

Cheers

Al

no, the guard comes in blue, the two small white / silver stripes on either side are the decals. The whole guard is held on by 4 screws underneath. The decals are easy to fit as well, just use a bit of soapy water to get it into the right place.

The handlebar controls should just twist around when you loosen the screws, do a check for damage whilst you doing it tho, sounds like it took a fair whack. If you end up buying the rear left fairing from bmw that doesn't come with a decal either, tho its easier to fit as the decal is the same shape as the fairing. Which ally plate do you need, got a scorpion on my dakar and i don't intend to refit the oem exhaust.

How strange i have a brand new Dakar and on the front blue nose/mud guard i have no stripes its just blue?

The ali plate sits on the exhaust just behind and slightly bellow the left rear fairing. If you don't intend to use it I would happily buy it off of you!

Yep it was a good old whack, actually amazed at how little damage was done! Just to my wallet and pride and my thumb!

You don't have these bits (circled in red) How Strange, i would have thought they would have been fitted in the factory :nenau

I was going to say pm me your adress but your only a 'user':nono :D

Send me your address on rc.mad at ntlworld.com and i'll post it out to you foc :D

I had a bit of an accident earlier in the year, £1500 worth of cosmetic damage, I needed to ride the bike so i bashed the rear brake lever straight and fitted a new clutch lever, and rode it for around a month :thumb2

bmw replaced one fork lower, a 'dakar' panel, front guard, l/h rear guard, handlebars and a few other bits.

Thats a nice looking Dakar, I like the engine and fairing guard! in the light of what i just did i think that should be the next purchase!!

I shall be come a 'Tosser'... my mom would be so proud!
