My daughter is keen to get back on to two wheels again and quite fancies the 650. Drawback of course is that she is on the short side. 5' 3"

Anybody out there dealt with a similiar problem or done any work on a 650 to lower the ride height? Any tips or experiences to share?

Cheers.....

Hi WWFC,

having an inside leg of a mere 27.5 inches I know what you mean.

I had a Funduro, which you could order complete with a factory fitted lowered chassis option. All it entailed was changes to the suspesion linkages.

After market suppleirs then offered the kit to retro fit to standard bikes (cheaper than BM's parts).

Several bikes later I bought an F650GS and selected a lowered chassis option. This isn't simply a change to the suspension linkage. I understand that you can no longer order this option but I stand to be corrected.

I currently ride an R1200GS, with the low seat option and the suspension set to 5 clicks from the softest setting.

...and a B&Q step ladder....

..sorry, couldn't resist...

great stuff guys, thanks for that... sounds more and more like she wants a 650 of some kind...not the Dakar . Anyway at least I know now that there are options, so once again...cheers

My wife's fully lowered (seat & suspension) is here in Shropshire, pm me if you want to try it for height. No probs.;)

Riverking, is that the Lady Docs' bike?

Anyway, thanks very much for the offer but the daughter is in Bruxelles... I'm doing this long range.

I had a F650GS not lowered, but put a low seat on it, although having sat on one with a standard seat there isn't much difference, I'm only 5ft 2" and could put both feet on the floor no problem. I think the lowered one would be too low for her if shes 5ft 3".

You're welcome;)

Riverking...... hope the good Doc is enjoying her riding:)

Lucy..... thanks I'll pass it on, but apparently she has tried them all for size and is struggling...I'll be going out then again in a week or two so I'll take her round the shops and we'll see... but thanks to you all for the input...
