Hi all,
Just bought an 03gs, it would appear after reading other thread/posts that i have a normal(low) seat and the dakar(tall) seat is a direct swap.
Does anybody this end of the world have one i could try (before i buy) or maybe someone want the reverse and would like to swap?
Im new to this biking mullarky(only passed my test last week) but must say yours is a great site for beginners:bow
Lastly, i dont want to open a can of worms on what is only my second post but after careful consideration i can honestly say black is the best colour!!
Looking forward to seeing you all and giving a "bikers nod"
Regards Tony

Hi Tony....nice to have another 650 rider here....and yes, I'd agree that black is the best colour for a SEAT.....of course though, BLUE is the best colour for the bike!!.......:D :bounce1 :clap

Hi all.
You wont believe this. my name is Tony. I have just bought an 05 Dakar and want the same swap. Ie, I have a standard GS seat on my Dakar and want a Dakar one..
The only difference being I have been riding for over twenty years. Sold my airhead and 1150 ADV to buy a Dakar.
And what a fine bike they are. Far better off road than the above and just as good on the tarmac..
And so much easier in London traffic..:clap

I have done lots of green laning in the past. and have guided for years..So if any fellow GSers want to come out to play, Pm me :thumb2

And Tony, welcome and good luck..:aidan

GS/DAKAR SEATS

Hi Guys,

Checkout www.f650.co.uk for even more interesting stuff on 650 BMWs.

I have sucessfully converted several GS seats to completely illiminate the rider's cut out section & provide a higher seat that you can move about on (something like an "Enduro" bike seat) & have sold half a dozen to other users.

If you can get to South East London, I have one in stock for testing/swapping/selling. PM me or ring 07901 894078.

ps. Black is the best colour for GSs.

thanks

for replying wilbur, have been and had a look. Would like to source one this end of the world cos travelling any distance with the current set up is a bit uncomfy. However i do need one and if needs be ill pack up the top box with essential supplies and make the long journey to the great metropolis!!
Hey, it could be my first road trip !!!! :bounce1
Where abouts(ish) in south east Wilbur???
Regards Tony

Tony

The location of the seat is SE20 8JY in a district known as Penge.

Wilbur

Couldnt for the life of me place Penge :nenau
Had to resort to Autoroute :blush
(Expecting another dissapointed smiley from Noddy!!)
One question though, the seat you have is it your "mark one" cos that is kinda looking favourite if i decide to go that way.
Regards Tony

Tony

The seat I have in stock is a Mark II, the Mark I is keeping my large posterior from sitting on the upper frame rails on my own GS ;) .

I do, however, have another low seat awaiting conversion, so any of the three options could be available, & Marks I & II for immediate trade.

The choice is yours.

Paging the Wilber

Hi Wilber,
How are you fixed for this weekend.
Was contemplating coming down early sat morning for seat swap.
This would of course depend on your plans for the weekend / work / family commitments. My idea was to leave early 6-6.30ish  and be down to slog country early sat morning. As i say only an idea, speak to you soon.
Regards
Tony
