A good start would be searching threads on here! The subject has been covered several times.

I presume you have either Mapsource or Basecamp on your PC? If not Mapsource probably came with your Garmin on a disc-load it on your PC. Basecamp can be downloaded from the Garmin Website.

Once you have a mapping program you can start playing with it-there are plenty of hints and tips on here if you look. Transferring a route is easy, just plug in the USB cable (you have to take off the battery cover on the 660) and click on the download to device button.

It can appear daunting at first but it does become easier with practice. I have found that just about the most common mistake is not being careful enough when placing waypoints on a route. Even if you don't zoom in on the map the point you make is an exact location so it is possible to, for instance, put your waypoint on the wrong side of a dual carriageway. The device will obey your instructions and route you around a roundabout and back the "wrong" way to get to the waypoint before turning you around to continue. I wish I had a pound for every time I have heard people complaining that their Sat Nav had done this. it's not the Sat Nav it's operator malfunction.

Process for downloading is the same, just have to find the socket under the battery cover.

I still use Mapsource in preference to Basecamp . We have around 50 routes now that we download to all sorts of Garmin & Tomtom devices. Have you downloaded the 660 user guide from the Garmin site?

f you have problems I will try and help.
