Am trying to do some routes in France,in base camp mapping, when i do a route and click to follow pencil line down a m/way,it will follow it for so long and then it divert's off down another road and then at the next juction down it will come back on again!!
Have been in and turned off most off avoids and the only one on is tracks
The tick box for avoid tolls is not ticked so it should in my opinion follow straight on.
Frustrated 660 owner.

TRY MAPSOURCE

IMHO I think you will find mapsource a bit more user friendly for planning your routes, give it a try.:thumb

I've read on the zumo forums that Mapsource is now a legacy product, ie no more updates.

Great one less thing for the software "developers" ie bug inserters to mess with :D

Choose car routing instead of motorcycle, that should sort it.

Many thanks

Thank's for all the reply's will have a another go at it again.
Will try the car one first.
Cheer's all.

Also try dragging the route to the desired road but always drop it after a junction in the direction of travel - less likely to try to get you to u turn and go back off the junction.

Hard to explain but there is a tutorial the Bumkin has done on the Mapping software threads and it is very very good and worthwhile wathcing.

We have found the usual cause of this sort of thing is when you inadvertently click on the wrong carriageway of a motorway or dual carriageway. The software doesn't 'think' so it assumes you want to divert off the road and come back onto it going in the opposite direction. We've created some very interesting routes that way :blast

Zooming in so that both carriageways are clearly visible solves a lot of problems.

Reading the OP, the 660 has nothing to do with the problem as far as I can see

Mapsource / the mapping in the older versions did have a similar problem, I'm guessing that the speed attributes for the roads was too similar, so it didn't make any difference if you left the motorway on a slip road, and then came back on oth the other side, especially if the motorway was curving the wrong / right way.

In Mapsource I always try to avoid via points on motorways etc and use the POI waypoints.
