a mate has just bought a 2008 690, with a little over 2000 miles on clock, it does not want to idle,
done the open-close throttle reset, started and allowed to idle for the required 15 mins, but after 8 mins it cuts out. it will restart reluctantly and will not idle.
the fuel pump has been replaced as they are supposedly an known problem.
anyone have this problem

Bit more here re. 690's stalling:

(also covers the 15 min reset step-by-step)

Can't remember for certain, but there is a tip-over switch that can play up on the 690's, maybe worth investigating, doubtful it is this though, it wouldn't even fire up for any length of time.

Also note in the threads linked to above that a lot of people seem to re-map the 690's as they run a bit lean.

just an idea before you fo stripping the bike down, the tank filler is an open invertation to all types of crap, make sure the fuel filter aint bunged up as would slow the flow of fuel or even stop it, also the fuel line quick connect aint knackered,
ref remaps, they are only need if removing the cat i.e aftermarket exhaust,
I always think to check the simple things first.

One other thing to try is check your sidestand cut out switch aint worked loose and is kicking in with the vibrations.

hope you sort it and suprised at a 690 with little milage cutting out.

thanks for the replies,
he got the bike back today, they found a chaffed wire that was shorting out off the frame.
the bike is going like a hot snot in a snow storm :thumb2
