Been thinking for a while about shortening the beak on my 1100, i have seen the 1150 mod, and really fancy something different, so i thought about the new 800 (black moulded extension part) cutting my beak down and fitting this moulded part on.
Anyone have any thoughts, of know if this part is available separate?

cheers

Not thought about this but it could be interesting.
Shortening the 1100 beak is popular - there are companies in Germany that will sell you a shortened beak in part ex for yours . Some people do it themsleves with a saw and dremel and you can usually pick up a spare 1100 beak if you look around.
Give it a try and post up some pictures - I'd like to see the result.

I will, if i can get some dimensions on the 800 extender, as i dont want to spend alot to find it wont work, i have seen the 1150 and short beak conversions but really fancy something a bit unique:cool

Will be on the lookout for a 800 to measure up:)

Cutting the beak

I liked this idea... and was considering it for a while - mainly because the end of my beak got scuffed on the wall turning the bike round on the patio. However I've decided since to take a different route. (full respray and being a bit more careful!!!!!!!!!!)

heres a DIY cut down that i think looks very good.

The alternative is no beak at all... I took this option for the past year - only putting the beak back on when I bought a light bar and spots... it didn't look right on the beakless bike.

and how it looked...

Same beak vs patio wall problem here.....have been considering removing the beak also - but have never seen this replacement cover before - do you where can I get one from ?

thanks for the links chaps......may just shy away at those prices - FYI mines an R850GS - so has same front end as the R1100GS.

cheers for those pics, im looking for something different, hence the 800 beak protector, but i aint seen one in the flesh to measure etc,

i will keep looking though
