Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere...

I want to charge my tomtom rider using the GS power socket. Was thinking of going to an electronics shop to see if I can buy the right cord/plug. Anyone know the specs to ask for? Thanks in advance...

There is a spare socket beneath the ignition/tank cover, Nippy N do a lead for this to a Garmin connection, a bit pricy but worth it IMO.

This is very good although I do not know if the end connection it fits the Tom Tom, I suppose you can always cut and solder the right one on?

It took me about 5 minutes to connect up and power on for the Zumo, all powered by the ignition!

Yo don't need the Nippy Norman's lead, you can buy and connect the CANbus plug and connect it to any cable you like.

However, its only useful if you want to semi-permanently wire in your GPS, as you have to remove the tank to remove from that CANbus socket. You could use a waterproof in-line connector but IMHE its another potential point of failure.

If you just want to make a cable to plug into your socket on the tank, you need a "DIN" plug, sometimes referred to (in the US) as Powerlet. It is smaller than a cigar lighter plug used in cars. Can get from Nippy Norman, or even your local car electrical accessories shop for about £3.

Lots more electrical information here
