Hi All, this is my first post in the single section. I've just bought a 1994 F650, 40K on the clock. I bought it as a non runner. Having emptied a bit of water from the tank, I can just about get the bike to tick over up to 2000 revs, and then it dies. It's slow to start, requiring a long, long burst on the starter motor, which sounds like it's not engaging, but must be, as the bike eventually starts.

I'd like to know that it runs, before I spend any cash on tyres etc. Does anyone have any ideas?.........or am I going to be looking at a long road to success.

Cheers

Rob

Nice cheap one first, check the plugs haven't worked loose. The plug leads also have a habit of breaking down. Some good info on www.f650.co.uk

swap plugs to iridium ones swap plug leads and caps at the same time drain the both the carb float bowls put an inline fuel filter in its worth it
let us know how you get on:rob

Right, thanks for the replies. I've got the caps ordered, so I'll sort out some new HT lead as well. I omitted to mention the fact, but I did drain the float bowls. The carbs are now off, so I'll give them a quick once over. The choke valve looked pretty stiff when I took it out.

Cheers

clean the carbs out really well, its prob crud thats there stopping it revving, give the emulsion tubes a good looking at (where the needles sit)

Having read a bit more on the HT leads, does anyone know here I can find some inductive HT lead?...............I've searched on the net, but with no luck.

cheers

Rob
